So what does a Nissan brake job actually cost?
Nationally, AAA puts brake pads at $100–$300 per axle, or $250–$500 with rotors. On a Nissan with Genuine Parts and dealer labor, expect a bit higher: about $200–$400 per axle for pads, $450–$700 when the rotors go too.
Where you land in that range comes down to three things: which axle, your model, and whether the rotors can be resurfaced or need replacing. Call 440-934-6001 with your year, model, and trim for your exact number.

Three factors that determine your final brake cost
Every Nissan brake estimate at I-90 moves on three variables.
1.Parts — Genuine vs. aftermarket
We install Nissan Genuine Parts by default and list the part numbers on your invoice. They're matched to your vehicle's brake spec. Aftermarket pads cost less but vary by maker, and within warranty, Genuine Parts keep your coverage clean. Want to weigh the options? Ask Service Advisor Ben Sink.
2.Rotors — resurface or replace
If a rotor is still above minimum thickness, we can resurface it on a lathe — cheaper than replacing. We show you the measurement so you can see the call yourself. Below minimum, or with deep grooves or heat-stress marks, it's a replacement.
3.Labor
A documented, flat per-axle rate. If something unexpected turns up mid-job — say a corroded caliper slide pin you can't see until disassembly — we call before we touch it. Schedule online for a written quote.
Front or rear pads only: approximately 45–75 minutes in our service lane.
Single-axle pad work is usually 45–75 minutes; a full four-wheel job runs 90–150. Front-axle brake work is faster because Nissan front brakes are designed for single-technician access without major disassembly.
Rear brake work on vehicles with drum-style rear parking brakes (some Sentra and Versa models) takes slightly longer than rear disc systems found on the Altima, Rogue, and Pathfinder.
Our Express Service lane (walk in, no appointment required) handles single-axle brake pad replacements on most weekdays, subject to current bay availability.
For a full four-wheel brake job or rotor replacement, a scheduled appointment is faster. Schedule service or call 440-934-6001. Service hours are Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 6 PM and Saturday 8 AM to 4 PM.
If the job runs longer than expected and you need to be somewhere, we can provide a loaner vehicle or a shuttle to local businesses within the Sheffield Village area. Just ask at check-in.
Four signs your Nissan brake pads need inspection.
The squeal is the one most people notice first — that high-pitched scrape when you stop, made on purpose by a wear-indicator tab built into the pad. Any of these four signs means it's time to call us:
- A high-pitched squeal when stopping
- Vibration or pulsing through the brake pedal
- The brake warning light on the dashboard
- Visible pad thickness below 4mm at the wheel
The squeal is the wear indicator — a little metal tab built into the pad that starts scraping the rotor once the pad's down to about 3mm. Once you hear it, you've usually got 1,000–3,000 miles left before it goes metal-on-metal.
Once it's metal-on-metal, it chews up the rotor too — so now you're paying for pads and rotors instead of just pads.
If you feel a vibration through the pedal, that's usually a warped rotor or uneven pad buildup.
This does not resolve on its own and often worsens in Cleveland's stop-and-go I-90 corridor traffic.
The brake warning light on your Nissan comes on when the fluid's low or a sensor picks up that the pads are worn past the limit. Don't ignore it, and don't count on it resetting itself.
We check your pad thickness on every visit, even if you just came in for an oil change or a tire rotation. Around 4mm, we'll tell you to plan on it next time. At 2mm, we'd want to take care of it that day. I-90 Nissan Service Team
Nissan brake pads in Northern Ohio traffic: 35,000–50,000 miles on the front axle.
Nissan brake pads on a vehicle driven in stop-and-go I-90 corridor traffic typically last 35,000–50,000 miles on the front axle and 50,000–70,000 miles on the rear. Hard braking, a lot of freeway-to-city driving, and towing all shorten that. Either way, that's normal wear — nothing to worry about.
Front pads wearing faster than rear pads is normal for front-wheel-drive and AWD vehicles, where the front axle carries more of the braking load. A single-axle front service is often all you need. That's why we quote per axle, not as a four-wheel package.
You'll usually hear the squeal before it goes metal-on-metal, so don't put it off once it starts. Schedule service — the brake inspection is free with the visit.
What you're actually comparing when you shop brake service.
Independent shops usually charge less per axle and put on aftermarket pads. If your car's got a lot of miles and it's out of warranty, that's a perfectly reasonable way to go. The real difference comes down to the parts, the warranty paperwork, and your service records.
Where it matters:
- If your Nissan is within the 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper or 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, dealer service protects your warranty documentation.
- If a brake caliper or master cylinder fails later, dealer service records support your warranty claim.
- If your Nissan is out of warranty but you're planning to keep it past 100,000 miles, Genuine Nissan pads are built to the exact friction and feel your car's brakes were designed around.
I-90 Nissan's CarEdge Grade A transparency score (96.7/100) reflects our 0% add-on rate and our $398 documentary service fee, disclosed upfront. Items due today and items coming up in the next service interval are listed separately on every estimate, so you know what you're paying for now and what to budget for later.

Questions we hear most.
How much does brake pad replacement cost for a Nissan?
Nationally, AAA puts brake pads at $100–$300 per axle, or $250–$500 with rotors. On a Nissan with Genuine Parts and dealer labor, expect about $200–$400 per axle for pads and $450–$700 with rotors. Your specific cost depends on model, which axle, and whether the rotors can be resurfaced. Call 440-934-6001 with your year, model, and trim for a firm quote.
How long do Nissan brake pads last?
Nissan brake pads in stop-and-go I-90 corridor traffic usually last 35,000–50,000 miles up front and 50,000–70,000 miles on the rear. Hard braking, a lot of freeway-to-city driving, and towing all shorten that. We check your pad thickness on every visit — 4mm means plan ahead, 2mm means take care of it that day. You'll hear the squeal before it goes metal-on-metal, so don't ignore it.
Does I-90 Nissan offer brake service on Express Service walk-in?
Yes — single-axle brake pad replacements are available on Express Service walk-in at I-90 Nissan during regular service hours (Monday–Friday 7:30 AM–6 PM, Saturday 8 AM–4 PM), subject to current bay availability. For a full four-wheel brake job, rotor resurfacing, or caliper replacement, a scheduled appointment is recommended for faster turnaround. Schedule service online or call 440-934-6001. Our service drive is covered, heated indoor space — you stay dry regardless of Cleveland weather.
Does I-90 Nissan install Nissan Genuine Parts for brake service?
Yes. Brake work at I-90 Nissan uses Nissan Genuine Parts by default. We document part numbers on your service invoice. Nissan Genuine Parts carry the friction coefficient and compressibility specification the factory engineered for your specific model's brake system. If you prefer to discuss aftermarket options for a high-mileage vehicle outside the warranty window, ask Service Advisor Ben Sink, we quote both and explain the trade-offs.
Will brake service at I-90 Nissan affect my factory warranty?
No — brake service at I-90 Nissan does not affect your factory warranty; using Nissan Genuine Parts at an authorized Nissan dealer actively supports your warranty documentation. If a related component (caliper, master cylinder, ABS module) fails within the 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper or 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty window, dealer service records support your warranty claim. I-90 Nissan is an authorized Nissan-franchised dealer at 5013 Detroit Rd, Sheffield Village, OH 44054. Call 440-934-6001 to confirm warranty coverage before your visit.
What is the brake warning light on my Nissan dashboard?
The brake warning light on a Nissan instrument cluster activates when brake fluid is low, a brake pad wear sensor reaches threshold, or a fault is detected in the hydraulic system. Do not ignore it and do not assume it will reset on its own. Bring the vehicle in — call 440-934-6001 or walk in during Express Service hours (Monday–Friday 7:30 AM–6 PM, Saturday 8 AM–4 PM). The brake inspection is complimentary.
So what should you actually pay?
At I-90, plan on about $200–$400 per axle for pads, $450–$700 with rotors (AAA national figures run lower at $100–$300 / $250–$500). Most Nissan Altima and Rogue owners need front-pad service between 35,000 and 50,000 miles in Northern Ohio stop-and-go driving, and most leave with the car back in under two hours. Call 440-934-6001 or schedule online.
