The brief
An authorized Nissan-franchised dealer at 5013 Detroit Rd.
If you have spent any time on a car-dealer website, you know most of them are written for search engines. This one is written for you. Twelve years on Detroit Road has taught us which questions actually come up at the desk, and the answers below are the ones we give in person.
Call (440) 934-6001 if you would rather just talk to a human. Otherwise, start with whichever section fits where you are in the process.
Sales & buying
Pricing, trade-ins, and the no-pressure floor.
How transparent is I-90 Nissan's pricing?
CarEdge gives us a Grade A transparency score of 96.7 out of 100 (April 2026). Per CarEdge's methodology, Grade A starts at 90, and the score is based on doc fees, add-on behavior, dealer markup, and how many verified out-the-door quotes back it up. Three things drive ours:
- A $398 documentary service charge that matches the 2026 Ohio statutory cap of $398 set under Ohio Revised Code §4517.261 and adjusted annually for inflation under the statute. The fee is fully disclosed in writing before you sign.
- Add-ons rarely appear on our quotes. CarEdge's verified-quote sample shows no mandatory dealer-installed paint sealant, etching, or theft packages across the quotes they have on file for us. If anything is added to your specific quote, we will identify it as optional in writing before you sign.
- Quoted prices that come in about 11% below listed markup in CarEdge's verified-quote sample.
The price on the listing is the price you sign for, plus our $398 documentary service charge plus tax, title, and registration. We put it in writing before you sign.
Can I schedule a test drive on a Sunday?
Yes. Sales is open every Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM, so you can test-drive any new or used vehicle on the lot. Sunday hours are uncommon among Nissan dealers in Northeast Ohio, so confirm with any specific competitor before driving across town.
Reserve a slot at (440) 934-6001 or online.
How does the trade-in process work?
Bring your current vehicle, the title or current loan payoff, and any KBB Instant Cash Offer or Carvana quote you already have. We appraise on-site (start with our trade-in valuation tool), walk the condition assessment with you, and put the trade value in writing.
We will compare against your KBB Instant Cash Offer or Carvana quote and work to match or beat it where we can. We do not lower the offer after appraisal unless undisclosed damage shows up during inspection.
How long does buying a car typically take?
Our target is to finish most family purchases in about 90 to 120 minutes when you arrive with trade-in details ready and either a credit-union pre-approval or a willingness to use Nissan Motor Acceptance financing. Cash purchases generally take less. First-time financing without a pre-approval runs longer because the application is filled out on-site.
If a fast purchase matters to you, mention it when you call ahead so we can have the paperwork queued up before you arrive.
Can I bring my own financing from a credit union?
Yes, and we encourage it. Bring your credit-union pre-approval (Cardinal Credit Union, Lorain National Bank, Nationwide Federal Credit Union, or any other lender) and we will run the deal on your terms. We will quote our Nissan Motor Acceptance rate alongside your pre-approval so you can compare. We will not pressure you to switch.
If you want a salesperson who is comfortable working with outside financing, ask for Brian Lilly.
Does I-90 Nissan use high-pressure sales tactics?
No. Diehl Belza has owned the dealership for 12 years and runs the floor on the principle that a customer who feels pressured does not come back. Our 4.8-star Google rating across 2,638 reviews bears that out. The words customers use most are "no pressure," "honest," and "easy to deal with."
If you ever feel pressured during a visit, ask for Diehl directly.
How do I know what's in inventory before I drive over?
Browse new Nissan inventory or used and Certified Pre-Owned inventory on our website. Both pages list every vehicle in stock with VIN, trim, color, mileage (used), and pricing. If a specific trim or color is not on the lot, we can locate one through Nissan's regional dealer network within a few business days. We do not advertise vehicles we do not have.
Service & maintenance
Express walk-ins, ASE Master techs, indoor service drive.
What is Express Service and how does the walk-in process work?
Express Service is our walk-in lane for oil changes, tire rotations, battery testing and replacement, and air filter replacement. No appointment needed. Drive into the indoor service drive on the east side of the building during service hours (Mon–Fri 7:30 AM to 6 PM, Sat 8 AM to 4 PM).
The 3,000 square foot indoor drive keeps your car out of lake-effect snow in winter and out of summer heat. You get the same labor rate, OEM parts, and multi-point inspection as a scheduled appointment.
How much does an oil change cost?
Oil change pricing varies by Nissan model and engine size. Most current Nissan engines specify 0W-20 full synthetic per the owner's manual, on a 5,000 to 7,500 mile interval.
Express Service handles oil changes during service hours. Call (440) 934-6001 for a same-day quote on your VIN, or check current service specials for posted pricing.
How much does it cost to replace brake pads?
Brake pad replacement depends on which axle, which model, and whether the rotors also need replacement or resurfacing. Per Kelley Blue Book's brake repair guide, brake pad replacement averages $150 to $300 per axle, with SUVs at the higher end. A combined pads-and-rotors job typically runs $300 to $550 per axle.
We quote in writing before any work begins. We will also tell you whether the pads are at urgent (under 3mm), soon (3–5mm), or next-visit (5mm+) thresholds.
What does ASE Master Technician certification actually mean?
An ASE Master automobile technician holds all eight ASE automobile certifications at once: engine repair, automatic transmission, manual drivetrain and axles, suspension and steering, brakes, electrical and electronic systems, heating and air conditioning, and engine performance. The Master designation requires re-testing every five years.
For CVT software updates, sensor calibration, and warranty work that needs current Nissan training, our service department uses ASE Master-level diagnostic capability. If you have a specific technical question about service certifications on your repair, ask the service writer when you check in.
What are I-90 Nissan's service hours?
| Day | Service / parts hours |
|---|---|
| Mon–Fri | 7:30 AM – 6:00 PM |
| Saturday | 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM |
| Sunday | Closed |
Sales is open later (Mon–Thu until 7 PM) and on Sunday afternoons. See the full hours table at the bottom of this guide for both departments side by side.
Are loaner cars available during service?
Yes, by reservation. Loaners book up, so call ahead and we will hold one for you. They are usually Nissans from our courtesy fleet.
If a loaner is not available for your appointment, we can shuttle you to and from local Lorain County destinations.
Does I-90 Nissan offer a shuttle service?
Yes. Our shuttle runs to local Lorain County workplaces and home addresses within a reasonable distance of 5013 Detroit Rd. It works best for shorter service visits. For multi-day repairs, ask about a loaner instead. Shuttle service is free for service customers.
Is the Nissan CVT transmission still a problem in 2026?
The CVT generation that drove the well-known reliability concerns was the 2013–2018 design. Nissan addressed it through settlements covering certain affected vehicles, then redesigned the CVT for the 2019 model year. The current CVT is covered by Nissan's standard 5-year / 60,000-mile powertrain limited warranty alongside the engine and the rest of the drivetrain.
The post-redesign Altima has scored above its segment average on recent Consumer Reports reliability surveys. We handle CVT software updates and any open recall work as routine. You can verify open recalls on your VIN at the NHTSA recall lookup.
Financing
Across the credit spectrum, quoted both ways.
What credit score do I need to finance a Nissan?
We finance buyers across the credit spectrum:
- Tier one (Nissan Motor Acceptance Corp): typically 740+ FICO with verified income, per NMAC's published tier structure.
- Tier two and three: roughly 700 to 739.
- Below 700: our finance team works with regional credit-union and subprime-lender partners. We will be honest about the rate impact before you sign.
Per the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, checking your own credit before applying does not lower your score.
What financing programs does I-90 Nissan offer?
Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation (NMAC) handles factory-supported financing for new Nissan vehicles, including current 2026 lease and finance specials. NMAC also offers CPO financing rates on Certified Pre-Owned vehicles.
Beyond NMAC, we work with regional credit-union partners (Lorain National Bank, Cardinal Credit Union, Nationwide Federal Credit Union) and outside lenders. We quote NMAC and credit-union rates side by side. Our finance team is not paid a higher commission for steering you to one over the other.
How do I pre-qualify for financing before I visit?
Use the finance pre-qualification form on our website. The form runs a soft credit pull (no impact on your score) and returns an estimated rate range and approved loan amount within a few minutes. Pre-qualification is valid for 30 days.
Bring the confirmation to your visit. Our finance team will convert it to a hard application only after you have selected a vehicle and signed an offer.
Does I-90 Nissan have first-time buyer programs?
Yes. Nissan's College Graduate Program offers a $500 bonus and special financing for buyers who graduated within the past 24 months or will graduate within the next 6 months from an accredited college, university, or trade program.
The First-Time Buyer Program through NMAC supports buyers with limited credit history. NMAC's published criteria require a minimum 660 FICO and at least three tradelines, and the program covers new Nissans only. Buyers with no credit history may need a co-signer or another path. Our finance team can walk through which fits.
Does I-90 Nissan offer Nissan military programs?
Yes. The Nissan Military Program offers a $500 bonus to active-duty U.S. military, reservists, retirees, and veterans within 24 months of separation. The bonus stacks with most current Nissan offers and applies to new Nissan vehicles. Eligibility requires verifiable military documentation.
We also support Toys for Tots through the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve every holiday season.
Models & inventory
Rogue or Pathfinder, LEAF for the commute, Frontier for the work.
Should I buy a Nissan Rogue or a Nissan Pathfinder?
Rogue is a compact two-row SUV. Pathfinder is a midsize three-row. The choice usually comes down to whether you regularly need the third row.
If you have one or two children with occasional grandparent or carpool seats, the Rogue handles it. If you have three children, regular friends-along trips, or need three-across car-seat fit on the back row, look at the Pathfinder. The EZ FLEX seating system lets the second row tip and slide forward even with a child seat installed, so the third row is practical for short-to-medium drives. The current generation (2022 redesign, refreshed for 2026) seats up to eight, per Nissan USA's Pathfinder specs.
What's the right Nissan EV for a Cleveland-area commute?
The all-new 2026 Nissan LEAF is the current new EV in Nissan's lineup. The Ariya was discontinued in the US after the 2025 model year, but pre-owned 2023–2025 Ariyas show up in our used inventory periodically. Verify EPA range for any specific trim at fueleconomy.gov before you commit. Range varies by trim, battery, and wheel size.
EV range typically drops 20–30% in cold weather. Even so, current Nissan EV ranges cover most daily commutes along the I-90 corridor between Lorain County and downtown Cleveland or the Cleveland Clinic main campus. Charging at home overnight on a Level 2 station restores full range. Public DC fast charging adds a substantial top-up in 30 to 40 minutes depending on the model.
Is the Nissan Frontier a real work truck for Lorain County jobs?
Yes. The 2026 Nissan Frontier is a midsize pickup with a 3.8L V6, 310 horsepower, and a maximum tow rating of 7,150 pounds when properly equipped (King Cab 4x2). Other configurations rate lower. See Nissan USA's published Frontier specs for your exact build.
That covers most landscaping trailers, small construction equipment, and recreational towing for Lake Erie boats up to about 22 feet. For Lorain County contractors, landscapers, and weekend boat owners, the Frontier comes in below the Armada or competitor full-size trucks on price.
What's the best Nissan SUV for an Ohio family?
For most Lorain County families, the Rogue is the right size. School runs, soccer practice, weekend trips, and the occasional road trip without the bulk or fuel-economy hit of a larger SUV. Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is available across the Rogue lineup. Standard on Rock Creek and Platinum, optional on the other trims. AWD matters in Ohio winters.
Both the post-redesign Rogue and the post-2022 Pathfinder have scored at or above their segment averages on Consumer Reports reliability surveys. Verify the current model year ranking on CR's site before you make a final call.
What is Nissan Certified Pre-Owned (CPO)?
Nissan Certified Pre-Owned is Nissan's factory-backed used-vehicle program for vehicles within six model years and under 80,000 miles. Every CPO vehicle passes a 167-point inspection and comes with a 7-year / 100,000-mile powertrain limited warranty (from original in-service date), 24/7 roadside assistance, and a vehicle history report.
CPO financing rates through NMAC are typically lower than standard used-vehicle rates.

Sister rooftop Nissan of North Olmsted has won it 15 times since 2007 and has been Ohio's #1 volume Nissan dealer since 2008. Both rooftops staff ASE Master diagnostic technicians for warranty and complex diagnostic work.
The two stores share parts inventory but operate as separate dealerships with their own staff and service departments. If a specific trim or color isn't on the I-90 lot, we can usually transfer one from North Olmsted within the same business day. Group information is at bignissan.com.
