What is due for your Nissan? Let us talk service.

We are I-90 Nissan's service department on Detroit Road in Sheffield Village. Here we answer what owners ask us: which maintenance schedule you are on, when the CVT fluid needs attention, what the warranty covers, and what Express Service takes without an appointment.

Every interval here is from Nissan's maintenance schedule. The figures are the Rogue's. Send us the VIN and we read your own model's.

Three answers before you book

You are on the right maintenance schedule

Nissan has standard and severe maintenance schedules. Short trips, driving on salt-spread roads and towing can put your Nissan under severe driving conditions. We can help you figure out which schedule fits the way you drive.

Your CVT fluid has a set service schedule

For the Rogue, Nissan calls for a CVT fluid inspection every 7,500 miles or 12 months. Under severe driving conditions, replacement is listed at 60,000 miles. We can check your VIN and help you figure out what applies to your Nissan.

Express Service does not require an appointment

Need an oil and filter change, tire rotation, battery service or air filter service? You can stop by our Express Service without an appointment. If your Nissan needs diagnosis or other service, we can help you schedule it.

What a service visit at I-90 Nissan looks like

Step 1: We figure out your schedule

We will check whether your Nissan follows the standard or severe maintenance schedule and help you figure out what service is coming up.

Step 2: We figure out if Express Service fits

Oil and filter changes, tire rotations, battery service and air filter service can be handled through our Express Service without an appointment. If your Nissan needs diagnosis or other service, we will help you schedule it.

Step 3: Drop it off during service hours

We are open for service from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM Monday through Friday and from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Saturday.

Step 4: We check your VIN and service record

We use your VIN and service information to see what your Nissan needs and what may still be open.

Step 5: We show you what we found

We will walk you through the inspection and let you know what we found, including items such as brake and tire wear.

Step 6: You approve the work, and we take it from there

Once you approve the work, we will get started and keep a record of what was done so you know where things stand for your next visit.

Book the visit

  • We will give you a time estimate for the visit.
  • If the work takes longer than expected, we will let you know.
  • If we find something else during the inspection, we will talk it over with you before moving ahead.

Planning to wait? Just let us know when you book, and we will help you plan your visit.

What should you know about Nissan service here?

1. Nissan has two maintenance schedules

What decides itThe ruleWhat it means for you
Standard driving conditionsThe standard scheduleThis is for typical driving conditions that do not meet our severe-use criteria.
Severe driving conditionsThe severe-use scheduleAdditional maintenance applies when you primarily drive under severe conditions.
Who picksYou do, with usNissan asks the owner to choose based on the conditions they usually drive in.
Short trips and stop-and-go drivingOn the severe listThat is most of Northeast Ohio in winter.
Towing, a car-top carrier or a camperOn the severe listThese uses require more frequent maintenance.
Rough or muddy roadsOn the severe listFrequent driving on these roads can require additional maintenance.
If you drive very littleFollow the time intervalMaintenance is still due when the time interval is reached.
Past 120,000 milesContinue the scheduleKeep following the same mileage and time intervals.

The same odometer reading can mean two different maintenance schedules, depending on how you drive.

We can go over Nissan's severe driving conditions with you and match them to how you use your car. Plenty of drivers qualify without realizing it, so it is worth knowing which schedule applies before you reach 90,000 miles.

2. When each service is due

What comes dueThe intervalWhat is on it
The shorter service interval3,750 miles or 6 monthsWhichever comes first. The standard schedule.
The longer service interval7,500 miles or 12 monthsWhichever comes first under the standard schedule.
Standard vs. severe useThe interval can changeThe mileage and time intervals depend on how you drive.
Engine oil and filter7,500 miles or 12 monthsThe 2026 Rogue 1.5-liter gas model uses this interval under the standard schedule.
In-cabin microfilter7,500 miles or 12 monthsReplace it at this interval under Nissan's current 2026 Rogue schedule.
Engine air filter30,000 miles or 48 monthsThis interval applies under both standard and severe conditions.
Brake fluidReplace every 15,000 miles or 24 months on the 1.5 turbo RogueThe 24 months usually arrive before the miles.
The oil indicatorIt can shorten the oil interval itselfOur Oil Control System can shorten the oil-change interval based on driving conditions.

These intervals are for the 2026 Rogue with the 1.5-liter turbo engine. Maintenance can vary by model, engine, drivetrain and driving conditions, so we can check the schedule for your specific vehicle by VIN.

3. When does the CVT fluid need attention?

What you are askingThe ruleWhat that means here
Standard driving conditionsInspect every 7,500 miles or 12 monthsNissan checks the fluid but does not call for a replacement.
Severe driving conditionsNissan schedules a replacementYour driving conditions determine whether this applies.
The owner's manual versionReplace every 60,000 miles, or have the dealer inspect the fluidThis applies to towing, a car-top carrier, a camper, or rough and muddy roads.
The deterioration counterThe transmission keeps its own countWe read the counter instead of trying to estimate fluid condition from mileage.
Which fluidGenuine NISSAN CVT Fluid NS-3Not a universal CVT fluid. Not a substitute.
If the wrong fluid goes inDamage is not coveredThe new-vehicle warranty does not cover damage from using the wrong fluid.
Checking it yourselfDo notThere is no dipstick on these transmissions.
The plug-in hybrid RogueNo CVT, no CVT fluid serviceA different transmission entirely.

Before we recommend a change, we read the fluid deterioration counter. The transmission keeps its own count, so we do not have to guess based on mileage.

If you tow, carry a roof box or spend winters on rough roads, you are on the severe schedule. Nissan schedules a replacement.

4. What the warranty covers, and what to read closely

What we are talking aboutThe termWhat it means for you
Basic coverage36 months or 36,000 milesCovers defects in materials or workmanship.
Powertrain coverage60 months or 60,000 milesIt lasts longer, but covers fewer parts.
Corrosion, perforation only60 months, no mileage limitCovers rust-through on a body sheet metal panel. No extra rustproofing is required.
Surface rustNot covered by corrosion warrantyBasic warranty coverage applies instead.
Outer trim, such as moldings12 months or 12,500 milesOne of the shortest terms, so check it early.
Seat beltsTen years, no mileage limitMuch longer than the rest of the car's coverage.
Brake pads, shoes, drums and rotorsWear items, excludedThese are replaced when they wear down.
Security+Plus extended protectionUp to 8 years and 120,000 milesThree levels, covering 2,213, 1,529 and 839 components.
Wear items on the extended plansNot covered on any levelWipers, tires, lights and batteries are excluded.

Read the trim term closely. Nissan warrants corrosion of outer trim parts for 12 months. Perforation of a body panel is covered for 60 months with no mileage limit. They sound like the same thing, but they are two different things.

Nissan covers seat belts for 10 years with no mileage limit. If a belt has stopped retracting on an older Nissan, ask before you assume it is yours to pay for.

5. Express Service is walk-in

ServiceHow it works hereGood to know
Express ServiceNo appointment neededStop in during Express Service hours.
Oil and filter changeOn the express listUses genuine Nissan synthetic oil and a genuine Nissan filter.
Air filter and in-cabin microfilterBoth on the listThe cabin filter is due about four times as often as the engine filter.
Tire rotation and balanceOn the listAvailable with new tires.
Battery diagnostic check and replacementOn the listIncludes key fob battery replacement.
Brake services, shocks and strutsOn the listThese are also available as walk-ins.
Factory scheduled maintenanceOn the express list tooScheduled maintenance can be done without an appointment.
Every express visitComplimentary multi-point inspectionBrake pad thickness and tire tread depth are checked and returned in an easy-to-read report.
What still needs bookingAnything that needs diagnosisA warning light or intermittent fault needs a longer appointment.

If your car is due for scheduled maintenance, you do not need an appointment. Anything that needs a technician to find a fault first needs a booked slot. Diagnosis takes longer than the Express lane allows.

The inspection comes back as a written report, not just a verbal summary. You can look it over later when you are deciding what to do next.

The questions you may still have

Which schedule

I hardly drive my Nissan. Do I still need servicing?

Yes. If you drive very little, keep up with service based on the regular time intervals. Do not wait for the odometer.

How often

Why did the oil light come on early?

The car monitors the oil itself. Nissan's Oil Control System can shorten the interval under certain driving conditions, so the indicator can come on before you reach the mileage interval.

The CVT

Someone told me CVT fluid is due at 60,000 miles. Is that right?

That figure comes from the owner's manual for towing, using a car-top carrier or camper, or driving on rough or muddy roads. The manual also allows for a dealer inspection of the fluid. We can inspect it instead.

Recalls

Is there a recall I should act on immediately?

Yes, if you have an affected older Sentra or Pathfinder with an open Takata airbag recall. Nissan has issued a DO NOT DRIVE warning for certain 2002-2006 Sentra and 2002-2004 Pathfinder models, because the airbag could explode in a crash and send metal fragments at the occupants. If your VIN shows an affected vehicle, do not drive it. Contact us to arrange the free repair.

People also ask

How often should a Nissan be serviced?

On a Rogue, Nissan uses two repeating intervals: 3,750 miles or 6 months, and 7,500 miles or 12 months. Time and mileage both count. Each interval has a standard and severe schedule, based on how you drive.

Does a Nissan CVT need a fluid change?

Not necessarily. On the standard schedule, Nissan calls for a CVT fluid inspection every 7,500 miles or 12 months. Under severe conditions, the schedule calls for replacement. For the Rogue, the owner's manual also provides a 60,000-mile replacement interval or dealer inspection for certain severe-use conditions.

What CVT fluid does a Nissan take?

Use Genuine NISSAN CVT Fluid NS-3 or an equivalent specified by Nissan. Do not mix it with other fluids. Nissan says damage caused by fluids that are not recommended is not covered by the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.

What counts as severe driving for a Nissan?

Nissan's severe-use conditions include short trips, stop-and-go traffic, towing, using a car-top carrier or camper, and driving on rough or muddy roads.

How long is the Nissan rust warranty?

Nissan's corrosion-perforation coverage is 60 months with unlimited mileage. Surface corrosion caused by defects falls under basic coverage instead. Corrosion of outer trim parts, such as moldings, is covered for 12 months or 12,500 miles, whichever comes first.

How long are Nissan seat belts covered?

Nissan covers seat belts and related components for 10 years with unlimited mileage when they fail to function properly during normal use.
